Visualising the Impact

Every statistic represents a life, a story, a community forever changed. In NSW alone, over 358 lives have been lost in the last 12 months, and 9,963 have been marred by serious injury (total hospitalisations) on our roads in 2023. Zooming out to the national scale, Australia witnessed an average of 1,253 road fatalities last year, ranking 20th out of 36 nations in the road fatality rate.
The ripples of road trauma extend far and wide, touching one in five adults (20%) in NSW who have experienced the heart-wrenching loss of someone on the roads – a staggering 1,260,000 people. The profound impact echoes in personal grief and resonates throughout our community, costing us over $9 billion annually. Behind every statistic lies a face, a family, a void that can never be filled. It's time to visualise the stories behind these numbers, to advocate for change, and to work together toward safer roads for all.
