Why the new road to safety

After losing our 17 year old son Barney, we decided to launch a new road to safety so no other families have to endure what we have experienced.

Barney was an innocent passenger in a car driven by a P-plater under the influence of alcohol who was doing ‘burnouts’ late at night with five passengers onboard, four unrestrained. His death was not an accident, the crash could have been avoided. Every day there is another news story, another tragedy that shouldn’t have happened.

The world is changing.

The entire roads ecosystem is being transformed by technology. Companies are already introducing technology that is transforming the driving experience.

This provides us with an opportunity to take a new look at how technology can be a force for good. Not as victims on the sidelines but as active agents of change. Mature technologies exist that can be implemented now.

A crash not an accident.

“It always feels like the focus is on looking after the interest of a criminals wellbeing - intervention programs and the like.” What about focusing on the devastation of families and the community left behind” - Dr Valerie Malka, Trauma Surgeon (Daily Telegraph January 2021)
